UK Chooses Aston Martin As Coolest Brand

June 26, 2007

The British have chosen which brand is going to be declared the coolest. And during the very exclusive event CoolLive which was held around a week ago, UK had decided that the Aston Martin brand be declared the coolest brand in the country. The event was actually held at the Gymnasium which is located in King’s Cross. And the CoolLive event is a part of the initiatives of CoolBrands from the Superbrands organization. The industry believes that this Superbrands organization is actually a really important so as to recognize which brands, people, or places are the coolest in the United Kingdom.

So who chooses which brands should be recognized? Well, the answer is that it is the CoolBrands council who actually do the judging. They simply do not base the judging on which has become popular during the moment. The council actually based their judging on which brands have actually been able to successfully create the coolest reputation in a given amount of time. It was not Taylor Wires who received the recognition nor Kleen Wheels. It was Aston Martin who successfully been chosen as the brand that has become the coolest.

Mazda Ryuga Concept Car 2008

June 21, 2007
2008 Mazda Ryuga

The Ryuga (pronounced “ree-yoo-ga,” Japanese for gracious flow) is Mazda’s second concept in a series of three it plans to debut this auto show season. The first was the Nagare that debuted in L.A., and the last will be unveiled in March at the Geneva show. The Ryuga, however, is here today and stands as a more developed concept than the Nagare, which was a pure exterior design study with no powertrain or interior.

The Ryuga expands on the “emotion of motion” concept that debuted with the Nagare, and you can see the elements of flow captured in the car’s sheetmetal. The sweeping lines on the doors, for instance, were inspired by the raked pebbles in a Japanese dry garden (or the lines you leave in a sand trap if you practice proper golf etiquette). The wheels, as well, feature spokes that twist near the hub, as if the torque of the car’s imaginary flex-fuel engine has twisted them. Finally, the color of the Ryuga is meant to evoke flowing lava, with tones and hue that vary from yellow to blue to red depending on the light. We won’t go on about the Ryuga’s styling, suffice it to say that Mazda’s got the best looking concept of the show from what we’ve seen so far.

Safe Driving Tips – Hold Life in Your Grips

June 18, 2007

Present generation cars and vehicles are so well teamed up with advanced safety gadgets that accidents should not even be remote possibilities. Yet, we hear of road-accidents every now and then. In fact, fatalities of accidents far outnumber deaths due to other causes and in most cases, you will come to know that the accident could have been avoided had the one behind the wheel abided by safe driving tips. Remember, safe driving tips translate into safety and well being for you as well as others sharing the tarmac with you.

Speed, in all probability, is the most vital of all the safe driving tips. Reckless driving and exceeding speed limit will amount to committing suicide. Maintaining the legal speed limit promises you all the advantages and gives you a superior control while you drive a vehicle.

Wearing safety belts while driving is mandatory in many countries. These days, even passengers are required to use safety belts. Maintaining a safe distance between two vehicles is crucial to avoiding accidents.

Apart from these generic “drive safely” rules, there are some specific safe driving tips, which you need to adhere to in order to steer your vehicle in the right course. Accordingly, a safety tip for bad weather conditions will be to slow down. Driving becomes a big challenge when it rains and snows. The tires lose traction and your vehicle tends to skid. Going slow gives you the opportunity to take defensive action.

Similarly, slow down at intersections and watch-out for the light-signals. The other safety tip you need to abide by at intersections is to make a slow start even when the red light turns green. Always check both the sides – right and left – before driving through an intersection.

2007 Nissan NISMO 350Z

June 15, 2007
2008 Nissan NISMO 350Z

Nissan has added a new, fifth model to the 350Z coupe line with the NISMO 350Z. Featuring a host of unique equipment—including a wild body kit and stiffer suspension—the NISMO Z goes on sale at Nissan dealers nationwide in July as a late-2007 model.

NISMO, Nissan’s in-house tuning and racing support subsidiary, has made body and handling kits not just for the 350Z but also for the Altima, Sentra, Maxima, Titan, Frontier, and Xterra for several years. However, the NISMO 350Z is just the second model (the Frontier was the first) to wear the NISMO badge (which, by the way, stands for Nissan Motorsports International) in the U.S.

2008 Subaru Impreza WRX: Different Grille For US Version?

June 13, 2007

So what’s the deal here; did Subaru decide to (partially) listen, to WRX fans performing a last minute grille change? Could be, since the New Jersey plated 2008 Subaru WRX hatch that popped-up at the ESX meeting in Hollywood a couple of weeks ago was driven by Subaru of America representative, Garrick Goh. We think you’ll agree with us that the discreet, black mesh grille looks so much better than the atrocious chrome mask we saw on the New York Show WRX.

Ferrari sets new Guinness World Record!

June 12, 2007
Ferrari Guinness World Record

Ferrari set a new world record for the Largest Parade of Ferrari cars over the weekend (June 9) when 385 of the famous scarlet red automobiles lined up at the Silverstone race-track in the UK.

In order for the record to be registered with Guinness, all 385 cars had to be driven a distance of at least two miles with each car being no farther than two car lengths apart - a feat that was managed via detailed planning, logistics and the participation of many UK Ferrari owners.

On show were some very rare Ferraris including the 250 California Spyder, 250GTO, F40s, F50s, Enzos and even the ultra-rare FXX - amounting to a combined worth of over AU$125 million (!) on the race-track at the same time!

Asian Cars: Auto Manufacturers to Watch

June 11, 2007

The Asian automobile manufacturing market is much broader than many American consumers understand it to be. Beyond Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, and other household names there are quite a few automakers that are growing in size and respectability in their own markets. Two of these companies have already committed to selling their models in the U.S., but there are three others worth knowing about and watching.

Starting in 2007, two Chinese automobile manufacturers will be exporting cars to the U.S. and Canada. Geely Automobile Company and the Chery Automobile Company are part of the first wave of new Asian automakers preparing to serve the U.S. market. I won’t go into more detail about these two manufacturers, so please read a related article I wrote titled, “Chinese Cars: Redefining the Market,” to learn more about them.

Proton — Proton Holdings, the parent corporation of Proton Motors, is the largest manufacturer of vehicles in Malaysia. Volkswagen and Proton signed a strategic partnership agreement in October 2004 whereby Volkswagen cars would be built on Proton assembly lines beginning in 2006. Apart from the VW venture, Proton has a line of models of its own consisting primarily of subcompact and compact sized vehicles. Proton cars are currently exported to Australia and the company is eyeing the U.S. market perhaps as early as 2010. In addition to its VW relationship, Japanese automaker Mitsubishi owns nearly a 16% share in Proton.

7 Affordable Small Cars

June 8, 2007

Are you shopping for a small car? If so, there a number of models available to you for under $15,000. Seven are featured here; ten cars if you consider three alternate models. Manufacturer incentives have made this a great time to purchase a new car; shop, compare, and save!

Chevrolet Cobalt – With the MSRP of $14,410 this new Chevrolet model is one of the lowest priced cars manufactured in the U.S. Factor in GM employee pricing and the car can be had for less than $13,000. Not bad when you consider that few new car models are priced so low. Alternatively, GM still markets the Chevrolet Cavalier an outdated, dull, and uninspiring model. Still, at prices that begin around $10,500 the Cavalier just may pique your interest.

Ford Focus – Retailing at $15,590 the Focus is also available at a lower price when incentives kick in. In addition, eligible buyers will find nice low financing rates through Ford Credit.

Honda Civic Coupe – A quality leader in this segment is the Civic, the long time entry level Honda offering. With the MSRP starting at $14,175 the car is certain to attract the notice of the value conscious brigade.

Hyundai Accent – Yes, there still is a car marketed for under ten grand. With a price tag of $9999 the Hyundai Accent takes the prize as being the lowest priced new car for sale in America. The Hyundai Elantra also retails for under 15K, so it may be a better quality alternative to the Accent. FYI: Hyundai and Kia are made by the same company, so the excitement level for this model is certain to be nearly nonexistent.
